Summer nights and star-crossed lovers! From USA Today bestselling author Sarina Bowen.
Once upon a time, he gave me a summer of friendship, followed by one perfect night. We shared a lot during our short time together. But he skipped a few crucial details.
I didn’t know he was a rock star.
I didn’t know his real name.
Neither of us knew I’d get pregnant.
And I sure never expected to see him again.
Five years later, his tour bus pulls up in Nest Lake, Maine. My little world is about to be shattered by loud music and the pounding of my own foolish heart.
Rating~ 3.5 – 3.75 stars
Hush Note series is about different members of the band and their love stories written by three different authors. Sarina Bowen brings us with a second chance romance with surprise baby to a rock star in Lies and Lullabies (book 1).
Jonas and Kira met 5 years ago, became friends and Jonas’s time spend at Nest Lake to relax and regroup leads to writing the bands best album. Jonas was really happy during that time, falling in love for the first time can do that for you…but Jonas has to go back to his world world fame and fortune however Kira and Jonas spend their last night together, leaving Kira with an unexpected surprise behind.
I really liked Jonas, yes he’s a rock star but he’s sweet and I loved him with Kira. His thinking that he’s not good enough for her. He was a great Hero and father.
At the time Kira meets Jonas, she had been through a lot. So trusting someone again and falling for someone to only find out that they were lies is horrible. And then to be pregnant as well, it pretty tough but she was great. She’s a lovely mother and her daughter Vivi was adorable.
Jonas and Kira as I said I loved him with her. They were great. Misunderstanding aside, they really did fall in love with each other and never got over it. So it’s more of the other issues that make things difficult for them. They were sweet together and had great chemistry.
I loved Kira’s brother and the bands tour manager. Ahhh wish we had gotten more of them !!! Seriously they were both such good friends/siblings to the couple and their interactions with each other were cute. I will definitely not be averse if we they can get their own story!! Maybe even just a novella.
Sarina Bowen made the other band members interesting enough for me to read their stories as well. She gave us glimpses into their turmoil and band’s history so I’m looking forward to reading those stories as well.
Quibbles: I just wanted a lot more depth in certain places, we are given glimpses of things or told of certain events that I wish were given more time and pages to explore. It would have definitely given more depth to the characters and the story.
Overall, I quite liked this! Not a surprise. It’s has some angst, plus the whole friends to lovers second chance romance trope. Sarina Bowen writing is just very easy to get lost into and Lies and lullabies is not different in that regard. Her characters are just so darn likeable and easy to root for. Can’t wait for what she has in store next.
