From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Skye Warren comes the next installment in her Tanglewood series.
A million dollar chess piece goes missing hours before the auction.
Anders Sorenson will do anything to get it back. His family name and fortune rests on finding two inches of medieval ivory. Instead he finds an injured woman with terrible secrets.
He isn't letting her go until she helps him find the piece. But there's more at stake in this strategic game of lust and danger. When she confesses everything, he might lose more than his future. He might lose his heart.
**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it's an introduction to an author's world. And for fans, it's a bonus book in the author's series. We hope you'll enjoy each one as much as we do.**
Dr. Anders Sorenson wants to auction off the family heirloom, the Bishop a very expensive and old chess piece. Anders has more plans than just auctioning off the chess piece and its all going to plan when someone steals the piece. Natalie Lhuirs is the thief, the enchanting woman he met the night before. Now Anders has to find the bishop and the woman before they disappear for ever, but everything is made complicated when Anders finds Natalie and not all is as it seems.
This was good, it had so much potential but its just so short. I would have loved to spend more time with Anders and Natalie. Because of the size of novella, everything happens pretty fast which while I liked Anders and Natalie, it doesn’t allow you much time to feel their connection and see their development to forever love, if that makes sense. Obviously they had chemistry and we also see the caring and beginnings of love that’s developing but again its short. All my complains just end with its short.
The prologue was great, it made me really excited. Anders and Natalie’s background story was very intriguing. How they’ve spend their lives, dealing with their trauma and what they are doing now. The book follows the tail of revenge, lust and finally getting some light and happiness in the lives of the two people who had been in the dark for so long.
Overall, I think its a good taster to Skye warren’s writing, her characters (and the other couples we get to see) and her sense of style to new readers and give her loyal fans more of the tangle-wood world.
