We still aren’t responsible for melted devices.

I was eagerly awaiting the release of Team Player 2 anthology, it has stories from 8 contemporary authors, some of whom I absolutely adore and some who are new to me.

Fast Break by Kennedy Ryan

4+ stars

This is Quinn and Ean Jagger’s book. Quinn who we met in Block Shot (book #2) and Ean who is the coach of August’s team (from Book #1). I really enjoyed this one, its pretty short but as everything with Kennedy Ryan its well written and she made me teary at the epilogue. All in all a pretty great short wish I could have a bit more time with a couple but its done really well for a short novella. We also get to see/hear about the other characters/couples from the HOOPS series which was a plus, especially if your are a fan of Banner. It’s a great little addition to the series!!

The Teaching Hours by Sara Ney

3.5+ stars

This was fun, cute! I haven’t read the Jock series so I didn’t know the characters from beforehand (which I think would have made it a better read for me) but it was also fine as a standalone. Hannah and Rex were cute, again I wish we had a bit more time with the couple but its was pretty rounded off as we got to see them from strangers to getting to know each other and then starting dating. Also Rex and his niece were so cute together.

**I will update this as I read other novella’s in the anthology**

About Ella Fox

Ella Fox writes like a woman possessed whenever she gets the chance! She is the author of The Hart Family Series, The Renegade Saints Series and The Catch Series.

When she’s not writing, Ella indulges the gypsy in her blood and travels the country. Ella loves reading, movies, music, buying make-up, reading Tmz, Twitter and pedicures… not necessarily in that order. She has a wild sense of humor and loves to laugh. Her favorite thing in the world is hanging out with her family and watching comedy movies.

About Emma Scott

Emma Scott is a bestselling author of emotional, character-driven romances in which art and love intertwine to heal, and in which love always wins. If you enjoy thoughtful, realistic stories with diverse characters and kind-hearted heroes, you will enjoy my novels.

About Kennedy Ryan

A Top 30 Amazon Bestseller, Kennedy Ryan writes about women from all walks of life, empowering them and placing them firmly at the center of each story and in charge of their own destinies. Her heroes respect, cherish and lose their minds for the women who capture their hearts.

She is a wife to her lifetime lover and mother to an extraordinary son. She has always leveraged her journalism background to write for charity and non-profit organizations, but enjoys writing to raise Autism awareness most. A contributor for Modern Mom Magazine and Frolic, Kennedy’s writings have appeared in Chicken Soup for the Soul, USA Today and many others. The founder and executive director of a foundation serving Atlanta Autism families, she has appeared on Headline News, Montel Williams, NPR and other media outlets as an advocate for families living with autism.

Dear Mister.. . . no, too formal.
Hey there sweet cheeks. . . no, too forward.
*Clears throat*
To whom it may concern,
Full disclosure; before we move forward with this email, I would like it to be known that I have consumed an adequate amount of alcoholic beverages to intoxicate myself tonight. Three margaritas, two shots, and one beer--because it was free.
I think it's important to be open and honest with your co-workers, don't you?
So here I am, being open and honest. Drunk but honest. Or just drunk with lust? You decide.
I have a hopeless, foolish, schoolgirl crush on you when you are the last person on earth I should be falling for. Did you know people around the office call you a sadist? An egomaniac. An insensitive, arrogant prick. But what they don't know is your bark is worse than your bite. And that bite doesn't scare me. The fact is, I'd love that bite of yours to nip at my bare skin while we're both wearing nothing but sheets.
For once I want you to look at me as more than one of your employees.
And as long as we're being honest, that navy blue suit you wear? With the crisp white shirt? It really makes me want to loosen your tie and show you exactly who's boss.
Love,
Sincerely,
Yours

Love Sincerely Yours is a slow burn, office romance with comedic moments, written by Sara Ney and Meghan Quinn. I’m a fan of both of their writing so when I found out that they’d be writing something together, I was extremely excited to read this one especially you know after reading the blurb.

Our heroine, Peyton is besotted with her boss, Rome (our hero) who doesn’t really even know of her existence till the day she gives in her two weeks notice. After a birthday celebration which ends in Peyton sending a very inappropriate but highly amusing anonymous email to her boss, telling him what she’d like do with him which starts off an email correspondence between the two. Though Rome doesn’t have any idea who it is sending him these.

I liked Peyton and Rome together, they had abundance of chemistry, I loved their emails to each other and the comebacks/banter with each other. It’s a funny, light read about a very uptight man and the man who saw behind the exterior he presented.

I also really liked Rome’s best friend, the more fun Hunter. He made the book extra special!

Quibbles: The ending was a bit rushed and I love a good grovel so would have liked more of that…

Overall, a very entertaining book and I’m looking forward to seeing what other books the duo write together and of course rooting for Hunter’s book!

For better or for worse,'til death do us part . . .

The better captured me; she's who stole my heart.
And made me realize I couldn’t live without this woman.
The worse of her took my breath away--kicked me when I was down and twisted me into a million knots.

When I first met her, I thought she was someone I would never see again.
The second time I ran into her, it was a random coincidence.
The third?
I didn’t know it at the time, but she was the girl I was going to marry.

But life isn’t always perfect. You have to take the better and the worse--even if it means giving her up, having her slip between your fingers, and letting her walk away.

I’m getting married.
This is forever, 'til death do us part.

In sickness and in health, to love and to cherish . . .

It sounds so simple, to love someone unconditionally.
To give them your heart.

So why is she slowly eating away at my soul with every unanswered phone call, every unread text, and every door left unopened?

She said yes, and yet, in order for her to be with me . . . I need to let her go.

I don’t even know where to start. I was going to review the books separately but I can’t, I’m a mess. This was my first time reading Meghan Quinn but it certainly won’t be the last.

This is gonna be so jumbled up and I’m not going to be able to do these books justice but I really loved reading these books. I also really loved Ryan. She was a broken beautiful character and she might not have seen it but she was also extremely strong. I loved Colby and Ryan together but more than that I really loved Ryan and wanted to see her get her happy ending.

Lets start at the beginning, when we first meet Colby Brooks in left Side of perfect his best friend, Stryder and Rory (Colby’s ex-girlfriend) are getting married. At their wedding he meets Ryan (Rory’s best friend) again. Since they are the maid of honour and the best man, they spend the wedding day and the day after together. I loved the easiness that they had, their banter and push and pull between them was fun to read and I really liked them together.

Months later Ryan who’s a make up artist moves to Las Vegas for her job and ends up becoming best friends with Colby and friends with his friends.

I had no idea that this book would be about Colby and the women he fell in love with. When we meet Sage, she’s this really perfectly perfect person. She’s shy, sweet and beautiful and seems like the perfect fit for the quiet Colby. The exact opposite of Ryan, who’s loud and funny. I really liked both of them. Theres no bad person in this love triangle that you feel like hating because they genuinely nice people and you want to see them happy.

Somewhere along the way, you see how comfortable Sage and Colby are together but also how wonderful Colby and Ryan are together. They just become each others best friends like sharing secrets with each other that no one knows. Making the other talk about difficult topics and become without knowing each other’s person. Its like watching a train wreck because you see that they both have feelings but they are so oblivious to it.

At the end of the first book Ryan finally comes to the realisation that she’s in love with her best friend, the best friend who’s in a relationship and is moving forward with his life.

Colby is a great hero, he’s a pilot for the Air Force. And him in love was something amazing to see. He and Ryan had a very difficult childhood that felt scars on their psyche. Which is something he’s actively working on.

This is one of those books where I really don’t know what to say because its written beautifully and I don’t want to give away too much. The the author takes you on a journey thats filled with laughter, crying and love. loads and loads of love. I cried quite a lot because of Ryan, she hides her vulnerability from all those around her and seeing her happy at the end really gave me immense satisfaction.

There are issues of mental health, which I think the author did a very good job at displaying because often mental health magically becomes okay in fiction when you find love or are in relationship. It’s not the case, so I’m glad that Meghan showed it in a more realistic view of it. The only thing was I wish the therapy period had been longer because two months times isn’t really enough, it should have been longer.

I’m honestly really an not a fan of love triangles, I avoid them like plague but Meghan Quinn here does such a wonderful job here that I didn’t even mind it one bit. I’m was too engrossed in the books to think about anything but that I hope everything would work out well for everyone.

This review has no structure is driving is slightly crazy but I loved Ryan, Colby and Sage. I loved how much this duet made me feel. I loved the sweet, funny and the heartbreaking moments. I really adored the couple together and I really recommend anyone who’s fan of contemporary romance to give this duet a go. The characters so vivid and with different facets and the duet is very easy to get lost into.

This isn’t a review really its more along the lines me just repeating I really loved the book! Give this one a go ya’ll, you won’t be disappointed.

I’m getting married.
This is forever, 'til death do us part.

Her hands rest on her hips, the navy-blue Grecian-style dress draped down the length of her body, a small slit on the side that barely reaches her knee. “You’re really fixated on this, aren’t you?”

“Nah, didn’t care too much. A homemade dinner would have been nice, though.”

“I can’t cook.”

“Neither can I,” I answer honestly. I either eat out, or I make myself scrambled eggs, and that’s about it. Rory taught me how to make meatballs once but hell if I can remember how to do that. All I know is that I enjoyed crushing the beef between my fingers. I get by with limited knowledge in the kitchen.

She chuckles. “Well, aren’t we a pair?” She turns to watch Stryder and Rory together. Apparently not giving a shit about the even bigger elephant in the room, Ryan asks, “Is this weird for you?”

“I have a flask in my jacket pocket, so you tell me.”

She lifts her bouquet and pulls out a mini bottle of alcohol. She wiggles her eyebrows at me. “Thought maybe we’d both need this since we have to sit through having all these pictures taken with them.”

“Smirnoff? That’s what you brought with you?”

“It was all I had. Don’t judge me.”

“I’m judging.”

Playfully she whacks my arm. “You shouldn’t be judging me. It was innovative. I carved out a little space in my bouquet for this bottle. If anything, you should congratulate me on this genius idea.”

“Was it your idea?”

“I mean”—she toes the ground—“I might have seen the idea on Pinterest along with a recipe for beer cookies that tasted like vomit.”

“Beer cookies?” I shake my head and take the little bottle from her. Twist the cap, tilt the bottle back, and swig. I hand it back to her, leaving half the bottle. “Even I know better than to think beer cookies would taste good.”

“They were for a boyfriend I was trying to impress.”

“Impress or poison?”

“Impress.” She laughs. “Although after our breakup, I should probably say poison. Teach all future suitors: if you mess with me, you get poisoned.”

“It’d keep me away, that’s for damn sure.”

She finishes the rest of the little bottle and returns it to her bouquet. She pats it and says, “I can recycle it later.”

“Get drunk and save the earth. Sounds like a good combination to me.”

“Ryan and Colby, can we get you over here for a few pictures?” the photographer calls out.

“That’s our cue.” Ryan pokes my cheek with her index finger, looking sincerely at me. “Don’t forget to smile, because these pictures will last forever.”

“Scowling not in the job description of best man?”

As we walk over, she says, “I would normally say no, but given the bride is your ex-girlfriend, one scowl is allowed.”

“One scowl? Damn, better make it a good one.”
